ARCore and ARKit

Your device requires ARCore (Android) or ARKit (iOS) to experience augmented reality and must be installed on your smartphone to continue with AR apps.

ARKit is a development platform by Apple that enables users to create augmented reality experiences. It allows people using native Apple devices to view objects in a real-world environment through its QuickLook Application.

“ARCore is Googles platform for building augmented reality experiences. Using different APIs, ARCore enables your phone to sense its environment, understand the world and interact with information.” - Google

Newer device models will have AR software already integrated into your phone.

Make sure you are running iOS 12.0 on your iPhone.

For Android devices, OS 7.0 and up must be downloaded. Also to enjoy AR, you may need to install Google Play Services for AR (previously known as ARCore) on your device.

Please note, Google Play Services for AR also has their own exclusive requirements and not all Android devices are compatible.

In addition to above, there can be other resource related reasons why AR won't load properly on your device, such as - low battery, low memory or not enough disk space left.
